DirecTV and DAZN have confirmed a multiyear agreement that brings local telecasts for five NBA teams to eligible subscribers in each club’s home territory.
The October 26 announcement covers the Cleveland Cavaliers, Indiana Pacers, Memphis Grizzlies, Minnesota Timberwolves and San Antonio Spurs. It turns the previously reported Cavaliers arrangement into a confirmed distribution agreement with published eligibility details.
Who gets the games
Customers need DirecTV’s Choice package or higher, or U-verse U200 or higher, within the relevant NBA-designated territory. Cavaliers telecasts are on DirecTV channel 660 and U-verse channels 1734/734. The agreement also covers DirecTV for Business venues within the teams’ regions.
Access to the DAZN platform using eligible DirecTV credentials is still described as coming in the following weeks, at no additional cost. Channel carriage and that app-login benefit are therefore separate stages of the rollout.
Cord Cutters News also reports that coverage includes pregame and postgame programming. The deal covers local telecasts; it should not be read as a promise that every nationally distributed game is included.
The practical change is another way for existing pay-TV customers to find local basketball without relying solely on a standalone streaming relationship. It also illustrates how a streaming rights holder can expand reach through traditional distribution.
