Buddy Shula’s Radio One Buffalo has launched US Country on WUSW, replacing its conservative-talk Patriot format with country music from the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s.
The lineup includes Shula, Wendy Lynn, Greg Ireland and Aaron James. Liz Mantel is scheduled to join mornings in December, while veteran country programmer Ken Johnson serves as a special advisor.
Radio Ink and Radio Online reported the change October 26, including the owner’s explanation that the format targets music underserved by contemporary country radio.
That is the station’s programming proposition; audience results will determine how listeners respond.
