DALLAS, Texas — Urban One is reshaping three Dallas–Fort Worth stations with returning personalities, new assignments and a revised music identity.

The changes, reported October 5 by RAMP, cover KBFB/97.9 The Beat, KKDA/K104 and KRNB/105.7.

At The Beat, Rickey Smiley returns to mornings beginning at 5 a.m. Jazzi Black follows from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with former Power 106 Los Angeles personality Bryhana Monegain taking afternoon drive. Posted on the Corner, with Incognito and DJ Misses, handles evenings.

Three brands, different assignments

K104 retains DeDe McGuire and DeDe in the Morning. Michael Shawn takes middays, Hollywood Bay Bay handles afternoons and Lil D moves to evenings.

KRNB drops the “Smooth R&B 105.7” positioning for “105.7 RnB,” emphasizing a blend of rhythm and blues recordings from the 1990s, 2000s and today.

Operations Manager Yonni Rude and Vice President/General Manager Maurice Potts described the realignment as an effort to strengthen audience connections and differentiate the brands.

The announcement establishes the programming changes. It does not establish that listeners will respond favorably or that the stations’ audiences will grow.

The Radio News Now question

What listener research shaped these decisions—and how will management measure stronger connections with each station’s audience?
