MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA — The Minnesota Timberwolves are building their first local season with DAZN around a veteran group of television and radio voices, while leaving one important distribution question unanswered: which station will carry the team’s promised free broadcasts?

Kevin Calabro and Jon “Boog” Sciambi will handle play-by-play assignments during the 2026–27 season. Calabro brings more than four decades of National Basketball Association experience, including 21 seasons with the Seattle SuperSonics and nine as Portland’s television voice. Sciambi currently calls Chicago Cubs games and handles assignments for ESPN.

Jim Petersen returns for his 29th season as analyst. Meghan McPeak joins the production as sideline reporter and studio host for road games, while Michael Grady returns for a fifth season. Radio voice Alan Horton is also expected to call some television games.

One product across several distribution systems

The Timberwolves have said that 15 of their 67 locally distributed games will be available free over the air. The organization has not identified the broadcast station, explained how Calabro and Sciambi will divide the schedule or specified how many television games Horton will handle.

The arrangement reflects an emerging local-sports strategy: combine paid direct-to-consumer streaming with a smaller free-television package rather than treating the two as competing systems.

That strategy succeeds only when fans understand where each game can be found. Radio News Now is requesting the free-TV affiliate, the complete announcer schedule, DAZN pricing and blackout rules, advertising responsibilities and confirmation of whether the free and subscription telecasts will use identical productions.
