Suno has released a new generation of artificial intelligence music models developed with Warner Music Group, BMG and Believe, marking the company’s clearest move yet from a stand-alone generator toward a music-industry production platform.
The September 9 launch includes three models aimed at different types of creators. The flagship V6 and the experimental V6-Wild are available to paid Pro and Premier subscribers, while V6-Mini is available on the free plan.
More control over individual parts of a song
Creators can now revise one section of a song without rebuilding the entire track, change individual lyrics, combine elements from several songs, isolate a sample and build a beat around it. Suno also says V6 can use text, audio, images and video as creative inputs.
The company plans to retire its earlier models and move the service entirely to the V6 generation. Suno also disclosed that it has been holding weekly writing camps with artists, producers, songwriters and musicians to study how professional creators use the technology.
Suno describes the new models as faster, more expressive and higher quality. Those are company claims, and independent comparisons will be needed to determine how consistently the new system improves finished recordings.
Production capability rises while subscription prices remain low
Suno’s current pricing lists its Pro plan at $8 per month and Premier at $24 per month when billed annually. The paid plans include commercial-use rights and a limited number of monthly downloads. The free plan offers daily generation credits but no commercial rights or monthly downloads.
The pricing illustrates a broader change in the music business: producing multiple credible versions of a song is becoming inexpensive, while deciding which version deserves promotion is becoming more important.
What comes next
Suno says it is developing opt-in experiences built around individual artists. Participating artists would choose whether to take part and would be paid when their work is used. The company has not disclosed launch dates or compensation formulas for those products.
For labels, managers and independent creators, the immediate challenge is no longer simply whether artificial intelligence can generate a complete song. It is how to sort through many versions, determine which one connects with real listeners and avoid spending marketing dollars on the wrong recording.
