CINCINNATI — The E.W. Scripps Company has promoted veteran news executive Sean McGarvy to head of news, effective October 5.
McGarvy has served in multiple newsroom leadership roles across Scripps, including senior director of digital news operations, news director at WEWS-TV in Cleveland and assistant news director at KMGH-TV in Denver.
In the new role, he will lead news strategy across the company’s local television portfolio and national news operation as Scripps continues to integrate broadcast and digital journalism.
The promotion keeps the position inside the company and gives Scripps a news leader with direct experience in both local newsroom management and digital operations.
