MIAMI, FLORIDA — Spanish Broadcasting System is publicly seeking a permanent chief financial officer as the company works toward operating under its post-bankruptcy ownership structure.

The Miami-based broadcaster posted the opening while related license-transfer applications remain before the Federal Communications Commission.

A critical seat has remained temporary

The company has lacked a permanent chief financial officer since José Molina stepped down in February 2024. Frank Soricelli, a longtime member of the company’s finance and accounting operation, was appointed interim chief financial officer in April 2024.

Spanish Broadcasting System filed a prepackaged Chapter 11 petition in May. After the bankruptcy court approved the plan, the company sought Federal Communications Commission approval to transfer control of its broadcast licenses to the post-bankruptcy owners.

The pending applications also address foreign-ownership levels. Posting the executive position does not mean the commission has approved those requests.

The next finance chief inherits a restructuring

The successful candidate will enter as Spanish Broadcasting System determines its investment priorities, financial controls and operating strategy after Chapter 11. That makes the appointment more consequential than an ordinary executive vacancy.

The company operates influential Spanish-language radio brands and other media properties. Its post-reorganization decisions could affect programming investment, personnel, technology and service to Latino audiences in several major markets.
