NEW YORK — ATP Media is turning the ATP Tour’s historical video collection into a searchable licensing business through a multiyear agreement with Veritone.

The arrangement will make match highlights, player features and other archival material available to broadcasters, production companies, brands and digital creators across North America.

Search, rights and payment move into one workflow

Veritone says it will provide cloud hosting, archiving, artificial-intelligence processing and licensing services through its Digital Media Hub. Buyers will be able to search the collection, review metadata and complete licensing transactions within the same system.

The potential uses include documentaries, news programs, advertising campaigns and digital storytelling.

Valuable footage often remains underused because it is poorly cataloged or because producers cannot quickly determine what material is available and which rights accompany it. A combined discovery-and-licensing platform can shorten that process and produce new revenue from events that occurred years earlier.

Automated metadata still requires oversight

The system raises practical questions that should be answered before licensees depend upon its records: how automated tags are reviewed, how corrections are made, whether editorial and commercial uses carry different prices, and how territorial or player-specific restrictions travel with downloaded clips.

The strongest archive is not merely searchable. Its descriptions must be accurate, its ownership clear and its permitted uses understandable to the buyer.
