NPR has appointed David Berzin senior vice president of Product and Data, putting digital audience products and the infrastructure behind its network tools under a new leader.

An NPR press release published October 30 by Editor & Publisher says Berzin will oversee product and data strategy, including audience engagement and revenue diversification. Radio & Television Business Report also reported the appointment.

Berzin comes from Hearst Magazines, where he was vice president of Product, International. His earlier work at Viacom included audience measurement, identity and advertising products.

The assignment connects two parts of public media’s digital operation: what audiences use and the information shared behind those services. For member stations, the practical questions include how local journalism is discovered, which tools stations can use and what data helps them understand audience needs.

The announcement establishes a leadership appointment and priorities, not a new product launch or a demonstrated revenue gain. Specific rollout dates and station-level changes remain subjects for follow-up reporting.
