Mary Louise Kelly announced October 2 that she is stepping down as host of All Things Considered and the national-security podcast Sources & Methods, while continuing to contribute interviews to National Public Radio, or NPR.
Kelly shared the decision in a public LinkedIn post, explaining that she plans to take a break from the daily news cycle before beginning another chapter. Her announcement follows 25 years with the organization.
She has co-hosted All Things Considered since 2018, succeeding Robert Siegel. Her move therefore affects both an established broadcast news program and a more recent podcast.
An exact departure date and permanent successors have not been announced. Her continued interview contributions should be distinguished from a complete departure from NPR.
For listeners and member stations, the next questions concern the transition timetable, continuity of the programs and how Kelly’s future reporting will reach audiences.
