WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Federal Communications Commission has approved the transfer of four television licenses from Howard Stirk Holdings to Sinclair, clearing the way for a $3.25 million transaction to move forward.
The stations have been operated by Sinclair under shared-services arrangements. The approved deal converts those operating relationships into direct Sinclair ownership.
The transaction includes WGWG-TV in Charleston, South Carolina, along with stations in Alabama and Nevada. Regulatory and financial filings also call for additional capital investment in the properties, including transmission and antenna upgrades.
The approval is notable because it turns long-running shared-service arrangements into outright ownership and adds the stations to Sinclair’s licensed portfolio after formal FCC review.
