CBC is bringing Hockey Night in Canada back for its 90th season with a new centerpiece: the Professional Women’s Hockey League.
The PWHL and CBC/Radio-Canada announced Monday that eight prime-time PWHL games will air under the Hockey Night in Canada banner during the 2026-27 season. The first is scheduled for December 5, when the defending Walter Cup champion Montréal Victoire hosts expansion club PWHL Hamilton at Place Bell.
The agreement gives the long-running Saturday-night brand a new role after CBC’s NHL arrangement with Rogers ended earlier this year. According to the PWHL, every Hockey Night in Canada game in the new package will feature a Canadian-based team, with pregame and postgame coverage plus supporting digital content.
The deal also has a significant radio component. Radio-Canada has acquired exclusive French-language audio rights in Canada to all Montréal Victoire games for the 2026-27 season. Additional details for distribution on ICI PREMIÈRE and Radio-Canada OHdio are expected later this fall.
For broadcasters, the arrangement is notable on two fronts: it keeps one of Canadian television’s most recognizable sports brands in active use while also expanding national audio coverage around a growing women’s professional league.
The PWHL says the full regular-season schedule and remaining national broadcast details will be released Friday, October 2. The league is entering its fourth season and has expanded to 12 teams.
