Lakes Media Network is partnering with Townsquare Ignite to expand digital advertising services across its six radio brands serving southern Virginia and northern North Carolina.

The October 1 announcement describes a white-label commercial partnership. Lakes can offer digital campaign capabilities alongside its radio inventory using Townsquare Ignite’s technology and support. It is not an announcement that Townsquare has acquired Lakes’ stations.

The offering includes programmatic advertising, audience targeting and campaign reporting. Townsquare introduced this partnership model in 2024 as a way for other broadcasters to use its digital advertising infrastructure.

For smaller station groups, the attraction is straightforward: local sales relationships can support broader campaigns without requiring the broadcaster to build and maintain every advertising platform itself.

The important business questions remain outside the promotional announcement. What fees and revenue shares apply? Who owns the customer relationship and campaign data? How much training does a local seller need, and who handles fulfillment problems?

Broadcasters also need to distinguish digital revenue from digital profit. Additional billings are useful only if campaign costs, service obligations and sales compensation leave a sustainable margin.

The Lakes agreement is a timely case study in whether a small radio group can turn an established local advertiser relationship into an integrated radio and digital service. Its actual financial performance remains to be demonstrated.
