WASHINGTON, D.C. — Rick Kaplan will leave the National Association of Broadcasters, or NAB, at the end of 2026 after more than 14 years with the organization.
The association announced October 15 that its chief legal officer and executive vice president of legal and regulatory affairs will depart as it combines legal and government-relations responsibilities.
Shawn Donilon becomes chief advocacy officer January 1, 2027, leading the combined teams. Kaplan and Donilon will work together during the transition.
The change places congressional advocacy and regulatory strategy under one leader. NAB says the structure is intended to improve coordination as those policy responsibilities increasingly intersect.
