LONDON — Radioplayer has added an in-car module to its broadcaster analytics dashboard, promising participating stations a near-real-time view of listening across broadcast and streaming.

The company says the system measures Digital Audio Broadcasting, or DAB, FM and Internet Protocol streaming. Data is processed within minutes and can show where, when and how long audiences listen, which stations they select and which delivery method carried the service.

Radioplayer says its hybrid-radio platform is present in approximately seven million European vehicles across 19 automaker brands. The new module is available to Radioplayer member stations without a separate premium analytics tier.

Broadcasters gain data—but drivers need clarity

Radio stations have historically known far less about in-car behavior than streaming platforms know about application use. Connected-car analytics could help broadcasters compare FM, DAB and streaming consumption, diagnose station-discovery problems and demonstrate listening patterns to advertisers.

The platform also raises questions about driver consent, location-data anonymization, retention and access. Broadcasters should determine whether they can export their data and retain their historical records if they later change technology providers.

The reported measurements represent vehicles using compatible Radioplayer technology, not every automobile or every radio listener. That distinction should remain visible whenever stations use the dashboard in audience or advertising presentations.
