NEW YORK — Race Taylor is leaving morning drive at Audacy’s WCBS-FM after just over a year in the position, reopening one of New York radio’s most visible personality assignments.
Taylor informed listeners of his departure Friday. The station has not announced a successor or disclosed its interim morning schedule.
He joined WCBS-FM for middays in July 2019 following nearly two decades at WPLJ, where he presided over the station’s final broadcast. Audacy moved him to mornings in June 2025 as part of a broader lineup change that placed brand manager John Foxx in afternoons and music director Jesse Addy in middays.
Taylor previously worked at WKRQ in Cincinnati and KDMX in Dallas. In his public message, he said he hopes another opportunity will allow him to remain in New York radio.
What comes next for CBS-FM mornings?
The next appointment will indicate whether Audacy wants another traditional solo music personality, a team-oriented program or a show built equally for broadcast, streaming and social distribution.
Morning drive remains commercially important because it combines audience habit, personality, local information and advertiser visibility. A heritage classic-hits station must also decide how much music, conversation and service content its next show should provide.
Taylor’s final date and the timetable for naming his replacement have not been announced.
