SYRACUSE, New York — Pamal Broadcasting will assume day-to-day management and programming oversight of Galaxy Media’s 10 radio stations in Syracuse and Utica on Thursday, October 1, under a local marketing agreement.
Pamal has agreed to purchase the stations for an undisclosed amount. The sale remains subject to approval by the Federal Communications Commission, so the local marketing agreement changes operational control while the license transfer is reviewed.
The portfolio includes Galaxy’s TK99, K-Rock, Sunny 102 and ESPN Syracuse brands in the Syracuse market, along with K-Rock, Mix 102.5, Tony 99.1 and ESPN Utica/Rome in the Utica-Rome market. Several brands operate on multiple licensed signals or translators, accounting for the announced total of 10 stations.
The companies’ announcement said Pamal would provide management and programming oversight beginning October 1. Pamal President and Chief Executive Officer Jim Morrell said the company had met with Galaxy employees and intended to continue supporting the stations’ communities, listeners and advertisers.
Galaxy founder and Chief Executive Officer Ed Levine said Pamal shares the local-broadcasting values of the company he started 36 years ago. Levine announced in August that he planned to retire at the end of 2026.
The acquisition extends Pamal’s footprint from the Hudson Valley, Capital District, Glens Falls and Vermont into Central New York. The companies have not disclosed a purchase price, staffing plans or whether any formats, programming lineups or local sports relationships will change. Radio Ink and the Radio & Television Business Report independently reported the 10-station transaction Wednesday.
