MOTU’s new OctaLite places eight microphone, line or instrument inputs in a half-rack enclosure aimed at recording, mixing and portable production. ProSoundWeb reported on October 9 that the interface is shipping.
The product connects through Universal Serial Bus, or USB, to compatible computers and mobile devices. Its Japanese distributor documents standalone mixing without a computer, onboard effects and loopback routing that combines computer playback with live inputs for recording or streaming.
More inputs in a smaller rig
For broadcasters and independent producers, eight microphone inputs could accommodate roundtable interviews or small live performances without a full-size console. Separate mix buses may also help create different feeds for recording and streaming.
Those capabilities should be tested against the actual workflow. A remote guest needs a return feed that excludes their own voice, commonly called mix-minus. Loopback alone does not establish that the complete guest-routing setup will work.
Availability varies by region; the Japanese distributor lists a late-October release. Buyers should confirm local delivery and support.
