MAHWAH, New Jersey — Ikegami’s UHK-X700VN camera will be featured at the National Association of Broadcasters, or NAB, Show New York on October 21–22, according to an October 8 preview.

The camera uses a variable neutral-density filter to control incoming light while preserving the selected lens aperture and depth of field. That could help operators adjust exposure during live production without changing the intended appearance of the shot.

An upgrade path for existing equipment

The camera family was first announced September 11 ahead of the International Broadcasting Convention, or IBC, in Amsterdam. Ikegami’s Japanese announcement also describes a factory retrofit for existing UHK-X700, UHK-X750, UHK-X600 and UHK-X650 cameras.

That makes the practical story more than a new-camera launch: broadcasters may be able to improve existing assets. U.S. retrofit availability, pricing and turnaround time still require confirmation.

Operators should evaluate smooth exposure changes under live conditions and compare the upgrade’s cost with replacement equipment before making a purchase.
