OpenAI expanded ChatGPT Ads to 26 additional countries Wednesday, taking the platform to 89 markets and opening more inventory to advertisers across Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
The company said more than 100,000 advertisers have run campaigns on ChatGPT since advertising launched just over eight months ago. OpenAI also reported more than 1.2 billion weekly ChatGPT users. Those audience and advertiser figures are company disclosures and have not been independently verified.
The rollout includes 14 additional Latin American countries, including Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Peru. OpenAI also named Nigeria, South Africa, Serbia, Ukraine, Cambodia, Bangladesh and Pakistan among the new markets. Advertisers can buy through technology partners or OpenAI’s self-service Ads Manager.
Ads will continue to appear only on ChatGPT’s Free and Go plans; Plus, Pro and Enterprise subscriptions remain ad-free. OpenAI says conversations are not shared with advertisers, customer data is not sold, ads are labeled separately from answers and advertising does not influence ChatGPT responses.
The company said it plans additional ad formats, campaign objectives, buying options and measurement tools. It did not disclose pricing, revenue from the expansion or standardized third-party performance data.
