Arvital Audio’s AudioRoute addresses a familiar studio problem: getting sound from a computer application into recording or playout software while leaving normal playback intact.

In an October 3 Radio World interview, founder Vitaliy Yunikov described software that captures application audio alongside playback rather than requiring the operator to change the computer’s output device.

AudioRoute can send that sound into a digital audio workstation, or DAW, through a plug-in; present it as an input to another recording application; or record directly to a WAV audio file. Operators can select applications and adjust their capture levels.

The developer lists support for macOS 14.2 or later and Windows 10 or later. Yunikov identified a Windows limitation: applications using Audio Stream Input/Output, or ASIO, in exclusive mode bypass the mixer and cannot be captured through this method.

For broadcasters and podcasters, application selection could help separate a remote call or browser playback from unwanted desktop sounds. The microphone remains a separate source connected through the operator’s existing recording setup.

These are developer descriptions, not results from an RNN equipment test. Compatibility with the intended automation or recording application still needs to be demonstrated.

The RNN question: Can the tool simplify a real studio session while keeping notifications out, avoiding feedback and recovering predictably after a restart?
