PHOENIX, ARIZONA — The E.W. Scripps Company has promoted Anita Helt to vice president of Local Media, placing the longtime Phoenix television executive over company stations across seven western states.
Helt spent more than 15 years as vice president and general manager of KNXV-TV, known as ABC15 Arizona. Her promotion follows Scripps’ move to organize approximately 60 local stations into 11 operating regions.
The regional structure gives executives responsibility for multiple geographically distinct markets while station news directors retain local editorial oversight. The operational test will be how much local authority, advertiser access and community accountability remain at individual stations.
