LONDON — Broadcaster and comedian Russell Brand was convicted November 5 of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault at Southwark Crown Court, the Crown Prosecution Service confirmed.

The convictions concern four women and offenses committed between 2004 and 2009. Brand, 51, is scheduled to be sentenced Monday, November 9.

The jury also acquitted Brand of two rape counts and one count of attempted indecent assault, according to the Associated Press. Brand denied the charges. The news agency reported that he was taken into custody after the verdicts.

Brand previously presented television programs and hosted a radio show for the British Broadcasting Corporation before developing a large online audience.

The verdicts determine the counts tried in this case; no sentence has yet been imposed. RNN is not identifying the women, whose identities are protected by lifelong anonymity under British law.
