TEGNA has named Brian Gregory president and general manager of WCNC in Charlotte and WFMY in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The October 28 announcement gives Gregory responsibility for operations, content, sales, digital and streaming initiatives, and community engagement at the NBC and CBS affiliates, respectively.

He succeeds Joan Barrett, who was promoted to group general manager for TEGNA’s Northeast and Southeast regions.

Gregory joins from WVEC in Norfolk, Virginia. His earlier experience includes six years as news director of Denver’s KDVR and KWGN, along with leadership roles in Wichita, Sacramento and Knoxville.

The appointment expands his responsibilities across two North Carolina markets as the stations continue serving audiences through broadcast and digital platforms.
