The SMPTE Summit will take place alongside NAB Show New York at the Javits Center in 2027, bringing a technical conference and a production-technology exhibition into the same venue.

In its October 22 announcement, the National Association of Broadcasters set the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers’ summit for September 28–30, 2027. NAB Show New York is scheduled for September 29–30.

The overlapping dates offer engineers and production managers a potential opportunity to combine technical education and vendor meetings in one trip. NAB’s announcement does not establish a shared registration price or promise that one ticket will cover both events.

From standards to station workflows

For smaller operations, the practical value will depend on the sessions, access arrangements and total cost. A purchase decision still needs to account for integration, training and support.

That connects with RNN’s examination of changing studio consoles: equipment increasingly serves workflows spanning audio, video and digital distribution.

The RNN question: Will the combined location make useful technical training more accessible to smaller stations?
