PORTLAND, Ore. — FM News 101 KXL and KOIN 6 News have launched a cross-platform local news partnership that will combine reporting resources across radio, television and digital coverage in Oregon and Southwest Washington.
The agreement is effective immediately and is designed to expand breaking-news, weather and community coverage across both organizations. KXL is owned by Connoisseur Media, while KOIN 6 is a Nexstar Media Group television station.
KXL Program Director Grant McHill said the partnership is intended to strengthen the station’s ability to deliver fast, accurate local reporting. KOIN 6 Vice President and General Manager Tom Keeler said the arrangement brings together two established Portland news operations to serve audiences across multiple platforms.
The move comes as KXL approaches its 100th anniversary on December 13 and reflects a broader local-media strategy: pooling newsroom assets across radio, television and digital rather than operating each platform as a separate reporting operation.
