Podcast advertisers surveyed by Oxford Road say unreliable measurement, heavy advertising loads and operational complexity can stand in the way of additional spending.
The agency’s What Brands Want 2026 report, released this week, draws on guests at its CAO Summit and other brand experts. Oxford Road says respondents include three of the ten largest podcast spenders.
That is a useful view of experienced buyers, but it should not be treated as a representative survey of every advertiser. The public overview does not provide the respondent count, field dates or enough detail to independently assess its wider revenue-opportunity estimate.
Oxford Road sells advertising services in this market, and its interpretation should be read with that commercial role in mind.
For independent podcast publishers, the actionable question is what evidence a prospective buyer needs before committing: clearly defined delivery measures, an agreed advertising load and a straightforward buying process. The survey identifies obstacles to investigate; it does not guarantee that removing them will produce a particular revenue increase.
