CHANDLER, Indiana — American Amplifier Technologies has acquired majority ownership of Electronics Research Inc., or ERI, bringing another established broadcast transmission supplier into a group that already includes Shively Labs and Kathrein-Scala.
Radio World reported October 13 that the ownership interest was acquired from Tom Silliman, who is retiring. Financial terms were not disclosed.
ERI supplies broadcast antennas, towers, transmission line, filters and combiners, along with installation capabilities.
American Amplifier owner Steve Wilde told Radio World that ERI’s products and operations will continue, including its Chandler facilities. Customers can continue working through existing contacts and support channels, he said.
What station engineers will want to know
The change matters to stations budgeting for replacement antennas and transmission projects. Familiar brands now share ownership, making it useful for buyers to understand which proposals come from related suppliers.
Continuity assurances do not answer every purchasing question. Stations planning projects will still need clear information about warranty handling, replacement parts, engineering availability, installation schedules and delivery commitments.
The announced transaction does not establish that ERI facilities or product lines are being closed.
