NEW YORK — GeoBroadcast Solutions has rebranded as Aktira as the radio technology company moves from years of development and regulatory work into a broader commercial deployment strategy.
Aktira will house the company’s intellectual property, engineering and commercial operations, including MaxxCasting, ZoneCasting and Lazer. The existing GeoBroadcast Solutions team remains in place, while new commercial and financial leadership has been added.
The most consequential change for broadcasters is the business model. Aktira says it will provide the equipment needed to deploy its systems without requiring upfront capital from station groups. In return, the company plans to participate in revenue generated by the platform.
MaxxCasting is designed to strengthen FM coverage with synchronized boosters. ZoneCasting allows stations to divide portions of their coverage area into geographic zones and insert different commercial messages during the same break. Lazer adds an attribution layer intended to connect listener response with specific zones and advertising.
The company says it is also pursuing enterprise-level agreements with broadcast groups rather than evaluating station deployments one at a time. If the model gains traction, it could lower the financial barrier for stations considering localized over-the-air advertising and signal-enhancement projects.
