If you’ve ever met, or heard, Jay Johnson — better known “Super Jay”— you know he’s larger than life. A true legend in radio and television, Jay’s voice has graced airwaves across the country: from WGRT and WVON Chicago, to CBS Chicago, WTLC Indianapolis, CBS Indianapolis, KRNB Dallas, ABC Radio Dallas, CBS Radio LA, and KSOUL Dallas.

Jay has always had an iconic, intoxicating personality — the kind of laugh that fills a room and a radio voice that could stop you in your tracks. He’s been a mentor, a father, a grandfather, and a friend to so many. Now, the man who gave his voice to millions needs our voices to rally behind him.

Jay’s health has taken a devastating turn. After bravely completing prostate cancer treatments, he was diagnosed with blood cancer and stage 5 kidney disease. Dialysis treatments have become a way of life, but complications have landed him back in the hospital again and again — from life-threatening fluid buildup in his lungs to sepsis that nearly stole his cognition. He’s now in a rehab hospital, fighting to regain his strength while his body battles on every front.

As you can imagine, the financial strain of mounting medical bills and ongoing treatments has been overwhelming. Jay has given so much of himself — to his family, his community, and to the countless listeners who’ve tuned in over the decades. Now, he needs us.

This GoFundMe has been created to help cover:

• Costly medical bills and treatments

• Rehabilitation Expenses

• Home Care Services

• The critical care he needs to keep fighting

We’re asking for your help in any way you can:

Donate — every single dollar goes directly toward Jay’s care

Pray — keep him in your thoughts as he continues this uphill battle

Share — spread Jay’s story far and wide so others can join us in supporting him

Jay is still that same fighter with the contagious laugh and booming radio voice. With your help, we can give him the best chance to keep sharing it.

On behalf of Jay and all of us who love him — thank you for your generosity, your prayers, and your support.
